In this tutorial you will learn how to add users by using the CSV import option. 

The CSV import allows you to import an CSV (or excel) file with users. This feature is very useful when you would like to invite large groups at once.  

*We recommend to use Google Chrome to ensure an optimal experience when using AppicalNow.

Step 1. Click on User Management in the menu on the left.

Step 2. Click on Add Users in the top right of the screen.

Step 3. Click on add users and select the third option; 'CSV import'. 

Step 4. Choose the role that you want to assign to the new user. You can choose for

  • Viewer
  • Editor
  • Manager
  • Admin
  • User Manager

Step 5. Fill in the the form that will pop up and click on the next button.

Step 6. Select the groups where you want to assign the new user to. You can assign someone to multiple groups. It's possible to create a new group too. Simply write the name of the group in the textfield that says 'Add a group' and click on 'Add' to make the group.

To let the users choose their own groups, select the checkbox at 'Allow group selection' 

Step 7. Select the courses where you want to assign the new user to and set a start date. The can access the course at the set 'start day'. He/she will receive an invitation to the selected courses by mail. 

Step 8. Click on 'Choose File' to upload your CSV/Excel file. AppicalNow only supports CSV-files, XLS-files or XLSX-files. 

XLS-file or XLSX-file

Your file XLS-file or XLSX-file should have the format as displayed below.

Column A: First name

Column B: Family name

Column C: Email

Column D: User's first day (yyyy/mm/dd)

Column E: Last day (day users account will be archived). It's possible to either give a number of days or a specific date. 

CSV-file

The easiest way to create a CSV file is create a file with the same format as with a XLS or XLSX file. Click on File in Excel (or Google Spreadsheets). Click on 'Save as' (or 'Download as' in Google Spreadsheets) and select 'Save as CSV (Comma-seperated values).

Depending on the program that you use to open the a CSV-file. Your file will be shown like the image above or it will look like the image below.

Note: all information is present in 1 cell. In this case all information is stored in column A. The data is seperated with a comma: 

Steven,Rogers,steven.rogers@appical.net,2017/01/15,180 for example.

You will receive an email once your import is completed.
