Overview

In this article, you’ll learn how to edit and format text on a page using various customization options. Adjusting text settings allows you to make content more engaging and visually clear, ensuring a better experience for new hires.

For example, you may want to highlight key information, adjust headers for visibility, or format text for readability. Understanding these text editing features will help you create structured and impactful onboarding content.

Example

If you're designing an onboarding module and want to emphasize important details, you can make headings bigger, bold key points, or add color to highlight essential information.

Steps to Edit Text on the Page

→ Text style

You can use different text styles to emphasize content:

Bold – Highlights important words or phrases

Italic – Adds emphasis to specific terms

Underline - Draws attention to key information

Strikethrough – Indicates outdated or unnecessary text

→ Mathematical symbols

Allows inserting special characters:

Numerical or mathematical characters

→ List Style

Allows inserting list types:

  • Numbered lists (1,2,3…) – Best for step-by-step instructions

  • Bullet points (•, -, >) – Ideal for listing key points

→ Paragraph

Allows inserting paragraph settings:

Adjusting paragraph spacing for better readability

Adding quotes to highlight testimonials or key messages

Indenting text (aligning to the left, center, or right)

Pilcrow (¶) symbol used to mark paragraph breaks

→ Adding a link to a text

Allows inserting links to words and text:

Add link to word or text.

You can add a link to a word or phrase to direct users to external resources like:

  1. Websites

  2. Internal intranet pages

  3. Email addresses

  4. Phone numbers

  5. Other relevant documents or FAQs

You can easily add a link to a word or phrase to direct users to external resources or relevant information.

How to Add a Link to a Word or Text

  1. Select the word or sentence you want to link.

  2. Click on the link icon (usually represented by a chain symbol).

  3. In the link box, enter the URL of the website or resource.

  4. Press OK to apply the link.

→ Formatting text size and colour

Allows formatting text to words and text:

Header/Text size – Adjust text hierarchy for better organisation

  • Text color – Customize the font color for emphasis

  • Background color – Highlight sections with a coloured background

📌 Note: When copying text from another application or website and pasting it into the editor in Appical, the text may retain its original background color. This happens because the copied text carries over its previous formatting. You can fix this by changing the background color to transparent.
