📌 We recommend using Google Chrome to ensure an optimal experience when using AppicalNow.

Overview

Keeping users informed about important events or updates is crucial for engagement, but manually communicating these changes can be time-consuming and inefficient. Users may miss important notifications if they're not delivered promptly or to the right audience.

With Appical, you can easily send push notifications to inform your users about specific events. This feature allows you to set the trigger, sending date, and customise the content of the push notifications through the Course Settings. You can send notifications to all users or target specific groups, tags, roles, or a combination of these.

Available options are:

  1. Story Unlocked: Sends a notification as soon as a story is unlocked.

  2. Inform: Send a notification immediately or schedule it for a later date. You can filter recipients by group, tag, role, or a combination.

  3. Scheduled: Sends a notification on a specific date relative to the user’s first day.

Steps to set up Push Notifications

→ Navigate to Courses and access course settings

Open the Courses section in the left menu.

Click on the menu icon in the top right corner of the desired course and select 'Settings'.

→ Add a Push Notification

Scroll down to find Push Notifications. Click on the 'Add Push Notification' button. A new window will pop up.

→ Select a Trigger Event

Choose the event for which you want to set a push notification by clicking the down arrow next to 'Select a trigger'.

Available options include:

  • Story Unlocked: Sends a notification as soon as a story is unlocked.

  • Inform: Send a notification immediately or schedule it for a later date. You can filter recipients by group, tag, role, or a combination.

  • Scheduled: Sends a notification on a specific date relative to the user’s first day.

Note: setting it to '-1' sends a notification one day before the user's start date '0'.

→ Customize Your Message

Write your push notification content in the provided text box.

Note: If you have a multi-language course, ensure to add the text for all languages on the top left (Dutch / English example).

→ Select group, tag or role (If applicable)

If you want to send a push notification to a certain group, tag, role or a combination of these, click on the button that says 'Filter Users' and select the criteria of the users that you want to send this notification.

→ Editing and Deleting Notifications

Note that once you send an Inform or Scheduled message, it cannot be edited. If changes are needed, delete the notification and create a new one.

Story Unlocked notifications can be edited by clicking the edit icon.
