Overview

Push Notifications allow you to inform your users about important events in real-time, such as when a story is unlocked. This feature enables you to keep users engaged and on track during their onboarding journey by notifying them of new content or updates.

Example

Imagine a new hire completing their onboarding tasks. When a new story becomes available, you can send them a notification like: "Great news! The next step in your onboarding journey is now ready for you to explore."

Steps to Set Up Push Notifications

→ Access Courses

Navigate to Courses in the menu on the left-hand side.

→ Open Course Settings

  1. Click on the menu icon in the top-right corner of the course for which you want to enable push notifications.

  2. Select Settings from the dropdown.

→ Add a Push Notification

Scroll down to the Push Notifications section and click the button labeled Add Push Notification. A new window will appear.

→ Select a Trigger

Choose the event that will trigger the push notification by clicking the down arrow next to Select a trigger. Available triggers include:

  • Story Unlocked

  • Inform

  • Scheduled

  • Chapter Unlocked

→ Customise the Push Notification

  • Each event allows you to create up to five messages.

  • Notifications are sent sequentially based on user interaction.

Note: If the user opens the first notification (clicks on it) , subsequent ones will not appear. If ignored, the next notification is sent, and so forth up to the fifth message.

  • Personalise your messages using personalisation labels for the user’s name or course name, or rely on default text.
Learn more about personalisation labels for name here: How to add personalisation labels in the Appical platform.

  1. When your messages are complete, click 'Save' in the pop-up window.

  2. Finalise by selecting Save Changes.

→ Edit or Delete Notifications

To modify or remove a notification, click the edit or trash icons in the Push Notifications section.

Example Notification

When sent, a push notification could look like this:
"Hi [User Name], the story '[Story Name],' has been unlocked, check it now!"
