Overview
The time-based unlocking feature allows administrators to release stories in a predefined order at specific times. This ensures that users access the right content at the right moments during their onboarding journey.
This feature is particularly helpful for creating a structured experience, such as releasing pre-boarding content before a new hire's first day or sequentially unlocking content as they progress through their onboarding.
Example:
For instance, you can configure a story to unlock 7 days before a new hire’s first day for pre-boarding purposes. Another story can then be set to unlock on their start date, ensuring a seamless and timely onboarding experience.
📌 Important:
Time-based unlocking requires configuration of user start dates or course start dates.
If no start date is defined, the system will default to the date the course was assigned.
Steps to Unlock Stories Based on a Specific Time
→ Navigate to Course Editor
Click on Courses in the left-hand menu.
Locate the course where you want to configure the story.
Click the menu icon in the top-right corner of the course.
Select 'Settings'.
Click 'Editor' in the bottom-left corner of the settings page to access the course content.
→ Select the Story to Unlock
Find the story you want to configure in the course.
Click on the menu icon in the top-right corner of the story and select 'Settings'.
→ Set Unlock Timing
Locate the Unlock this story at runtime date (optional) field.
Enter the number of days after a user’s first day when the story should unlock.
Example: Entering
7
means the story will unlock on the 8th day of onboarding.
→ Configure Pre-boarding Stories (Optional)
To unlock a story before the first day, enter a negative number.
Example: Entering ' -7 '
means the story will unlock 7 days prior to the user’s first day. ' 0 '
is the new hires first day.
→ Set Start Dates for Invites
CSV Invite or Open Invite: When inviting new users, set a course start date. This date will be used to calculate unlock moments.
No Start Date: If no start date is set, the system defaults to the first day or the date the course was assigned, depending on availability.
