An Essay Page is a versatile tool for gathering open-ended responses, such as opinions, reviews, or reflections from users. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up an Essay Page effectively.

Steps to add an Essay Page

Navigate to Courses and open Editor

Click on ‘Courses’ in the left menu.

Find the course you’d like to add the Essay Page to and click ‘Editor’ in the bottom left corner.

Select the Story and choose the Chapter

Choose the story where you want to add the new Essay Page.

Select the chapter in the left side menu where the Essay Page will be added.

Choose ‘Essay’ in the left menu and click ‘Add page’ in the bottom right corner.

Language

Select the language in which the page will be displayed.

Page title

Provide a clear and relevant name for the Essay Page.

Set page as draft

Pages are set to ‘live’ by default but can be set to ‘draft’ if you’re still working on them. To switch, click on 'Live' and select 'Draft'.

Set the Essay question

→ Essay (Placeholder)

In the Essay (Placeholder) text field, provide a clear and specific prompt to guide the user’s response.

Example: “We’re curious about your experiences in your first week at our company. Did you encounter any challenges?”

→ Essay (Label)

In the Essay (Label) field, give users a hint or phrase to inspire their answer or guide their thoughts.

Example: “Share your thoughts here…”

→ Add an Explanation (Optional)

Use the Explanation field to add a message that appears after the user submits their answer. This can serve as a thank-you note or an acknowledgment of their feedback.

Example: “Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Your feedback is important to us.”

→ Info Button Text (Optional)

Use the Info Button field to add further context or clarification on the assignment for users who click on this button.

→ Make it Mandatory

In Page Options, adjust answer settings, such as making the response mandatory to proceed.
