In this tutorial you will learn how to add a Social Story page.
A Social Story page gives the ability to display a Twitter Timeline or Instagram page. It’s possible to place a text on the left side of the page. The right side will show the Twitter timeline or Instagram page. It is possible to show the timeline of a Twitter profile, list, favorites or search term.
*We recommend to use Google Chrome to ensure an optimal experience when using AppicalNow.
Step 1. Click on ‘Courses’ in the menu on the left.
Step 2. Navigate to the course where you would like to add a new page. Click on the button that says ‘Editor’ the bottom left corner of the desired course.
Step 3. Next, select the story where you want to add a new page.
Step 4. Select the chapter in the menu on the left.
Step 5. Click on the button that says ‘Add page’.
Step 6. Choose ‘Social Story' in the menu on the left and click on the button that says ‘Add page’ in the bottom right corner.
Step 7. Select the desired language and give your new Social Story page a name. Click here for a guide on choosing a good name for your page.
Step 8. Pages are set to ‘live’ by default but can be set to draft. Draft pages can be very helpful when you’re working on a page while new hires are already using AppicalNow. Click on 'Live' and select 'Draft' to change the setting.
Step 10. Write the assignment in the text field underneath the title. It has to be clear what the user has to do. For example: “Take a look at our Twitter Timeline”.
Step 11. Select the desired social story that you want to embed in the dropdown menu (Twitter or Instagram). Paste the embed code in the text field that says 'Embed Code'.
For Twitter:
Open a new tab in your internet browser and navigate to the following url: https://publish.twitter.com/
A new window will open and it will ask you what you would like to embed. Fill in the URL of the desired profile, specific tweet, likes, collection, search results or likes. I entered http://twitter.com/appicalnow because I want to add the whole timeline.
Press enter or click on the arrow button and a number of options will be shown, depending on the URL that you just entered.
Pick the option that you want and Twitter will generate an embed code.
The code will look similar to this:
<a class="twitter-timeline" href="https://twitter.com/appicalnow">Tweets by appicalnow</a> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Step 12. Click on Copy Code and paste the embed code in the text field that says 'Embed Code' at your Social Story page.
Voila! you just created a social story page!
