Holiday season is right around the corner and what better time to share some cheer? The Appical elves have been busy here making our platform better, and we’re happy to share with you our latest new features!

In this edition:

  • Introducing a new section in the user profile: Manage preferences.

  • New reporting option: Manager Report

  • Accessibility improvements

Introducing a new section in the user profile: Manage preferences.

Users are able to set their preferences regarding certain settings in the Appical Player.

Starting today, users can choose whether they want to hide their completed checklist items on the dashboard or keep them visible. Giving them the option to keep a clear overview of only outstanding tasks. In the future other settings can be adjusted here too. Think of setting preferences regarding language and notifications.

All users in the Player are made aware of this change through a pop up message. For existing users this popup will appear upon logging in for the first time. New users will see the pop up after completing their first checklist item.

New reporting option: Manager Report

Our newest addition to our reporting features is fully focused on Managers. Gain insights and create reports on manager activity.

There are 3 so-called ‘levels’ within this report.

1. Summary
Gain insight in data for all managers within the organisation. Think of: ‘Total number of active managers’, ‘Total number of inactive managers’, ‘Total number of new hires confirmed’ and ‘Average number of visits’.

2. Manager
Gain insight in data of individual managers. Think of: ‘Name’, ‘Preset name’, ‘Number of new hires assigned’, ‘Number of new hires confirmed’ and ‘Last sign in’.

3. Connections
Gain insight in data of the manager & every user they’re following. Think of: ‘Manager name’, ‘Manager email’, ‘Manager preset name’, ‘New hire name’, ‘New hire email’ and ‘New hire introduction message sent at’.

More information on this new reporting type can be found in the support article.

Accessibility improvements

Our developers are working very hard on making AppicalNow compliant to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). WCAG defines how to make Web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility involves a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Visual / Contrast
The first changes are already live! Changes have been made to visual elements like icons, checkboxes and our interactive pages and the colour of hard coded text. This way, visually impaired users can use our platform to its full extent.

Keyboard operability
We have greatly improved the keyboard operability of the AppicalNow web player, our platform is now around 85% navigable via the keyboard. The platform can be navigated by using the Tab key. Focused items can be actioned by using the enter or space key. Dropdowns in focus can be expanded and navigated by using the spacebar and navigated using the Tab and arrow keys.

Headings & labels
Content in headings and labels are clearer from now on. A list of only the headings on a page should give a good idea of what the page contains. To improve the accessibility of the AppicalNow platform, headings were added to certain screens in order to make the content of the screens clear and to assist users using screen readers.
