Overview

In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Templates, also referred to as the Blueprint Wizard, to create a new course quickly and efficiently. Templates provide pre-made structures based on best practices, making it easier to build a professional and engaging course. With Templates, you can select predefined topics, personalise their content, and compile them into a cohesive onboarding experience.

Example:

if you're creating a course for onboarding new hires, you can include topics like "Welcome Message", "Company Culture", and "Role Expectations" to ensure your course is comprehensive and effective.

Steps to Use Templates (Blueprint Wizard)

β†’ Start creating a new course

  1. Click on Courses in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click on Add A New Course.

  3. A new window will pop up.

β†’ Select a Template

  1. Choose Use Best Practice Templates.

  2. Select the desired language for your course.

β†’ View the Template Overview

You will see the Template overview screen with default stories.

  • Stories are displayed as white blocks.

  • Each block represents a chapter in your course.

β†’ Rename Stories and Chapters

You can customise the story and chapter names:

  1. Click on the name of a story or chapter.

  2. Start typing your preferred name.

Example:
For an onboarding course:

  • Rename the default story "Introduction" to "Welcome to [Company Name]".

  • Rename the chapter "Getting Started" to "Your First Week."

β†’ Add Content to Chapters

Chapters are initially empty, as indicated by the '0 pages' label in the bottom-right corner of each chapter block.

To populate chapters with content:

  1. Navigate to the Library on the right-hand side.

    • The Library contains Topics, which are collections of pre-made pages grouped by theme or purpose.

      Example Topics for Onboarding:

      • "Introduction": Includes pages like "Welcome Colleague" and "What to Expect."

      • "Company Culture": Covers values, mission, and culture tips.

2. Drag the desired Topics from the Library into the relevant chapters.

β†’ Finalise Your Course

Once you've added the necessary Topics to your chapters, click Finish.

β†’ Create the Course

  1. Your course will now start processing.

  2. Refresh the page to see if the course has been created.

β†’ Edit the Course

Once the course is created, you can make further customisations in the editor for content or in the settings for more editions.
