Overview

When preparing the onboarding story, it’s important to provide users with information that is easy to digest without overwhelming them with text. However, there may be times when you need to present more information than can fit comfortably in the main content. To address this, we’ve developed a solution that allows you to add links within the text, directing users to additional pages with relevant information.

This article will guide you on how to effectively add internal links, making it easier for users to access relevant information quickly.

How to Add Internal Links

→ Determine where to add the Link

Internal links can be added in any text field within the Appical platform. This includes:

  • Text on a page

  • Page titles

  • Glossary items

Note: It’s not possible to link from one page to another page; you can only link from a page to a knowledge item and from a knowledge item to a page.

→ Use the correct linking codes

In the text field, utilise one of the following codes to create your link:

  • People Finder Item: pfl(ID):TEXT:pfl

  • Glossary Popup: g:word:g

  • Glossary Item: gl(ID):TEXT:gl

  • FAQ Item: fl(ID):TEXT:fl

  • Page Link: pl(ID):TEXT:pl

Link to a page from a checklist item

To link to a Page from a Checklist item, choose https:// <link> and use the URL from the WebPlayer Page.

  • Checklist to page: Use the full https:// URL

→ Finding the ID number

To find the ID needed for linking, navigate to the item you want to link to in the platform.

People Finder, Glossary and the FAQ

For people finder, glossary and the FAQ links, the ID will be the five (5) LAST numbers in the URL, found in the AppicalPlayer highlighted in the image below.

Page

For page links, access the page in the Editor (where you can edit the page), where the ID will also be found in the URL, highlighted in the image below.

→ Add the Link

Once you have determined the link and its ID, insert it where you would like it displayed in the text field, like the example below:
