Adding Runtime Unlocking to Knowledge Items

Unlock knowledge items on specific dates!

Runtime Unlocking allows you to show users specific content on specific time.
Your knowledge items might contain some content that only becomes relevant after a certain amount of days or weeks since the new hire started their onboarding, and using the Runtime unlocking makes impossible to control exactly when this information become visible to the new hire.

How does it work? In the Knowledge Items that include categories (Glossary, FAQs) you can assign an unlocking date to a category and in the Checklist you can assign an unlock date to each specific task.

Step 1. Navigate to courses in the menu and click on ‘Editor'.

Step 2. Click on ‘Knowledge’

Step 3. Navigate to the Knowledge Item and click on 'View'. Let's use Frequently Asked Questions for this example.

Step 4. Click on 'Categories' to open the categories menu.

An empty categories list will look like this:

You can add a category with the + icon and press ADD after giving it a name.

Step 5. Click on the icon on the right side of the category (hamburger icon) to open the edit menu.

Step 6. In the field 'Unlock at runtime day', fill in the number of days in which you wish the category to unlock.

Step 7. Click Save.

Voila! Your knowledge items are now locked and will become unlocked on the designated day.

Note: In order to delete a category, simply drag it to the right side of your screen.
