In this tutorial you will learn how to add a welcome message to your course.
A welcome message makes it possible to send a message to the new hire when he/she logs in for the first time. It's a great way to explain about the app and to welcome your new hire. You can choose to show a video, an image (optionally with text) or both; an image and a video.
*We recommend to use Google Chrome to ensure an optimal experience when using AppicalNow.
Step 1. Navigate to courses in the menu
Step 2. Click on the menu-icon in the top right corner of the course that you want to edit and click on 'Settings'.
Step 3. Click on the arrow next to 'None' at 'Welcome Message' to choose if you want to show an Image, video or both.
Image: This image is shown in the dashboard, just below the banner image. Uploading an image here will overrule the image set at ‘Banner Image’.The optimal ratio for this image is 7:3, the maximum size of this file is 2MB.
Video: This video is shown in the dashboard, just below the banner image. You can use this video to give your new hires a warm welcome or a short introduction to the company. Note: 35MB max! Check out these third party tips to make the video size smaller.
Both: If you want to add both, a welcome image and a welcome video. Select ‘Both’ and upload a video and an image.
Welcome Message Text Use this field to write a welcome message for your users, it’s displayed just below the welcome video/image.
Note: the salutation is automatically filled in with 'Welcome [first name]'.
If you choose to add a video, select video in the dropdown menu and click on 'Choose Video'. Search for your file on your device and click on 'open' to upload your video. If you want your video to start playing once the pop up appears, click on the checkbox next to 'Auto Play'.
If you choose to add an image, select image in the dropdown menu and click on 'Choose Image'. Search for your file on your device and click on 'open' to upload your image. The ideal dimensions for this image are 448 pixels in width and 614 pixels in height.
If your image is larger than 448 pixels in width and 614 pixels in height, it's possible to crop the image that you have uploaded.
Step 4. Move the slider to the right to make the selection smaller, move it to the right to make te selection larger.
Step 5. Click on 'Crop'
Step 6. Click on 'save'.
