New Stories Timeline in the Course Editor

Learn how to view and manage stories in the new Story timeline, organised by milestone and unlock moment, inside the Course Editor.

Overview

The Course Editor now displays stories in a timeline view instead of tiles. Stories are grouped by milestone (e.g. Pre-boarding, Onboarding) and, within each milestone, by unlock moment (e.g. "Available at start", "7 days before", "After 5 days"). This gives admins a clearer picture of when each story becomes available to a new hire, and makes it easier to reorder, tag, and manage stories without leaving the overview.

Example

For instance, under the Pre-boarding milestone you might have a "7 days before" unlock moment containing the story "Klaar voor de start", so new hires receive it a week before their first day.

📌 Important:

  • As of July 2026, the Stories timeline has replaced the previous tile-based view for managing stories within a course.

  • Stories are grouped by

    • Milestone: Pre-boarding, Onboarding or Offboarding

    • Unlock moment Available at start, 7 days before, After 5 days

Steps to use the Stories timeline in the Course Editor

→ Access the Course Editor

  1. To open the Course Editor, navigate to the Courses section in the left menu.

  2. You will land on the Courses overview, where all courses are displayed as tiles.

  3. Click on Edit to edit the course and see the stories timeline

→ Navigate the Stories timeline

When you open a course, the Stories timeline gives you a full view of all stories grouped by milestone and unlock moment.

The timeline shows your stories grouped into milestones, such as Pre-boarding or Onboarding. Within each milestone, stories are grouped again by unlock moment — this tells you when a story becomes available (e.g. Available at start, 7 days before, After 5 days).

Each story is shown as a card with everything you need to know at a glance:

  • Cover image and name — so you can quickly recognise the story.

  • Status — Live (green) means it's published, Draft (orange) means it's still being worked on.

  • Number of chapters — how many chapters are inside the story.

  • Tags — click Assign tags to add or view tags.

  • More options — click the three-dot menu for extra actions.

You can also:

  1. Click the ℹ️ icon next to a milestone name to learn more about it.

  2. Click the pencil icon next to an unlock moment (e.g. "After 5 days") to change when it triggers.

  3. Check the story count under each unlock moment (e.g. "4 stories") to see how much content it contains.

→ Reorder stories

Stories that share the same unlock moment can be reordered by dragging them into a new position.

  1. Locate the stories grouped under the same unlock moment label.

  2. Click and hold the drag handle (⠿) on the left of a story card.

  3. Drag the story up or down to its new position within that unlock moment.

  4. Release to drop the story into place.

📌 Important: Reordering only changes the display order — all stories within the same unlock moment still unlock at the same time.

→ Switch display language

If your course supports multiple languages, you can switch the display language from the toolbar.

  1. Locate the language selector dropdown in the toolbar.

  2. Select your desired language from the list.

  3. Story titles will update to display names in the selected language.

→ Preview the course

Before publishing, you can use the Preview button to check how the course will look to the user.

  1. Click the Preview button in the top-right corner of the editor.

  2. Review the course as it will appear to new hires, including story order and content.

  3. Close the preview and return to the editor to make any final adjustments.
