Overview
The Course Timeline in the Course Editor gives you a clear overview of your entire course in one place. Stories are organised by milestone (e.g. Pre-boarding or Onboarding) and unlock moment (e.g. Available at start or 7 days before), so you can easily see when content becomes available to new hires. You can also expand Stories and Chapters directly in the timeline to view their Pages without opening separate screens, making it easier to find, organise, and manage your content.
📌 Important:
The Course Timeline was introduced in two phases:
July 2026: the Stories Timeline replaced the previous tile-based overview.
October 2026: the timeline was expanded to include Chapters and Pages, alongside new search and bulk-management options.
These changes only affect how admins and editors manage content in the Course Editor. They do not change how new hires experience their courses.
Steps to use the Course Timeline
→ Access the Course Timeline
Navigate to Courses in the left menu.
Find the course you want to manage.
Click Edit to open the Course Editor.
The Course Timeline will display your Stories, grouped by milestone and unlock moment.
→ Navigate Stories, Chapters, and Pages
The Course Timeline displays your content in the order and at the unlock moments when new hires receive it.
Find the Story you want to view.
Click the arrow next to its title to expand it.
The Chapters within the Story will appear underneath.
Click the arrow next to a Chapter to display its Pages.
Click the arrows again to collapse the content.
→ Manage milestones and unlock moments
Stories are grouped by milestone, such as Pre-boarding, Onboarding, or Offboarding. Within each milestone, Stories are organised by unlock moment.
Find the milestone and unlock moment you want to adjust.
Click the pencil icon next to the unlock moment.
Adjust the timing and save your changes.
You can also click the information icon next to a milestone to learn more about it.
→ Search for content
Use the search functionality to quickly find Stories, Chapters, or Pages within your course.
Locate the search field in the Course Timeline toolbar.
Enter the name of the content you're looking for.
Review the matching results.
This is particularly useful for courses containing many Stories, Chapters, and Pages.
→ Reorder Stories
Stories that share the same unlock moment can be reordered by dragging them into a new position.
Locate the Stories grouped under the same unlock moment label.
Click and hold the drag handle (⠿) on the left of a Story card.
Drag the Story up or down to its new position within that unlock moment.
Release to drop the Story into place.
📌 Note:
Reordering only changes the display order. All Stories within the same unlock moment still unlock at the same time.
→ Switch display language
If your course supports multiple languages, you can switch the display language from the toolbar.
Locate the language selector dropdown in the toolbar.
Select your desired language from the list.
Story titles will update to display names in the selected language.
→ Preview the course
Before publishing, you can use the Preview button to check how the course will look to the user.
Click the Preview button in the top-right corner of the editor.
Review the course as it will appear to new hires, including Story order and content.
Close the preview and return to the editor to make any final adjustments.
→ Add tags to a Story
You can use tags to control which groups of new hires can see a Story.
Find the Story you want to add tags to.
Click Assign tags on the Story.
Select the tags you want to assign.
Save your changes.
