Overview
Push Notifications allow you to inform your users about important events or updates is crucial for engagement, but manually communicating these changes can be time-consuming and inefficient. Users may miss important notifications if they're not delivered promptly or to the right audience.
With this feature, you can set the trigger, sending date, and customize the content of push notifications through the Course Settings. Notifications can be sent to all users or targeted to specific groups, tags, roles, or a combination.
Example
Imagine there is an event happening during the week the new hires are starting, and you want to notify them in advance. You can send a push notification like:
"Great news! On Tuesday, there will be a company event. Wear something red to celebrate the company’s anniversary and receive a gift!"

Steps to set up Push Notifications
→ Navigate to Courses Settings
Open the Courses section in the left menu.
Click on the menu icon in the top right corner of the desired course and select 'Settings'.
→ Add a Push Notification
Scroll down to find Push Notifications.
Click on the 'Add Push Notification' button. A new window will pop up.
→ Select a Trigger Event
Choose the event for which you want to set a push notification by clicking the down arrow next to 'Select a trigger'. You can learn more about each trigger differences below in type of Push Notifications.
Types of Push Notification
There are currently 3 types of push notifications or triggers that you can use:
Story Unlocked
Inform
Scheduled

→ Story Unlocked
Sends a notification when a user unlocks a new story.
Perfect for guiding users through their onboarding journey, personalizing the experience, or adding seasonal elements (e.g., winter or summer theme).
"Congrats! You’ve unlocked the next story in your onboarding journey. Check it out now to continue learning about our company culture!"

→ Inform
Sends an informative message one-time at any specific moment.
Ideal for announcements or sharing about specific events.
"Reminder: There’s a company-wide meeting tomorrow at 10:00 AM. Make sure to attend!"

→ Scheduled
Sends notifications based on the user’s first day.
You can adjust it to go a specific number of days before or after the first day.
Ideal for structured onboarding timelines or planned events.
"Great news! In 2 days, your onboarding session on company policies will start. Don’t forget to complete your pre-session reading!"
