Overview
Appical's dashboard has a refreshed design that gives Admins an even clearer overview of new hires' onboarding progress. It still offers the same Adoption, Engagement, Evaluation, and Essay Feed insights as before, and now also includes a user status filter, the ability to click into any chart to drill down into the underlying data, and options to set up alerts and schedule automatic reports for the metrics that matter most to you.
Example
For instance, if you want to know as soon as fewer new hires are logging in, you can set up an alert on the Viewers Login Rate widget. Or, if your HR team wants a weekly overview of onboarding progress without logging in themselves, you can schedule that report to be sent to them automatically.
📌 Important:
Contact your CSM if you would like to be part of the beta testing of the new dashboard functionality.
Alerts and scheduled reports use the filters currently applied to that widget, so check your filters before setting one up.
Steps to Use the New Dashboard
→ Filtering Your Dashboard
The filter tool at the top of the dashboard lets you customise your view, so you can focus on the information most relevant to your needs.
Steps to Filter:
Select your criteria: course name(s), group name(s), user status, or a date range.
Apply the filters to see targeted data.
→ Adoption
The Adoption section provides a snapshot of new hire activity.
What You Can Find:
Total number of new hires
Number of new hires who have logged in
Login dates and their relation to the new hire's first day
Example: If you have 50 new hires, you can see how many logged in on their first day and subsequent days, helping you gauge the effectiveness of your onboarding process.
→ Progress and Engagement
The Progress and Engagement section highlights new hires' progress through various onboarding materials.
What You Can Find:
Course, story, and chapter progress
Time spent on chapters
Average visits to the platform
Example: By reviewing this data, HR can identify if new hires are struggling with specific chapters and provide additional support if necessary.
→ Evaluation
The Evaluation section summarises feedback from new hires based on Likert-scale questions related to the onboarding program.
What You Can Find:
Scores for each question
Overall course evaluation score
How many users rated the course
Example: If a specific aspect of the onboarding process receives consistently low scores, it may indicate an area needing improvement, allowing HR to take action.
→ Likert Scale Ratings
The Likert Scale Ratings records all written responses submitted by new hires during the onboarding process.
What You Can Find:
Comprehensive list of essay answers
Insight into new hires' thoughts and experiences
Example: This feed can provide qualitative data that complements the quantitative metrics, offering a deeper understanding of the new hire experience.
Drilling Down into Your Data
Many charts on the dashboard are now interactive. Clicking a segment of a chart filters the dashboard to show only that segment's data, letting you explore a specific group in more detail.
Use Case
For instance, you click the "Before first day" segment on the "When did the viewers log in in relation to their first day?" chart. The dashboard then filters to show only the new hires who logged in before their start date, so every other chart on the page updates too, showing Adoption, Progress and Engagement, and Evaluation data for just that group.
This helps you check, for example, whether those early logins also translate into higher course progress, without having to filter the whole dashboard manually.
How to use it:
Click on a segment of any interactive chart, for example a section of a donut chart.
Review the filtered results shown across the dashboard.
Click Clear filter to return to the full view.
Exporting a One-Time File
Click the download icon in the top-right corner of the widget.
Choose Download CSV, Download XLSX, or Download PNG, depending on the file type you need.
The file downloads immediately.
